Pricing

How much does car transport cost?

There’s no flat UK rate, the price depends on distance, the vehicle and whether it’s driven or transported. Here’s what shapes the cost, and how to get an exact, fixed price in seconds.

What you’re paying for

What affects the cost

Every movement is quoted individually, so you only pay for what your job actually needs. These are the things that move the price up or down.

Distance & route

The biggest driver of price. A 100-mile hop costs less than a 300-mile cross-country run, and return-leg availability can bring the price down.

Driven or transported

A roadworthy, MOT’d car driven on trade plates is usually the most cost-effective option. Transport on a truck costs more but suits non-runners and high-value cars.

Open vs covered

Covered or enclosed transport for prestige, performance and classic cars costs more than an open or driven movement because of the extra protection involved.

Timing & notice

Flexible dates are easier to schedule efficiently than a fixed same-day collection, which can affect the price.

Vehicle type & condition

Vans and larger vehicles, non-runners and cars needing a winch or low-loading take more handling than a standard car.

Number of vehicles

Moving several vehicles together, or a scheduled fleet transition, is more efficient per unit than a single one-off movement.

The biggest cost choice

Driven or transported?

For a roadworthy car with a current MOT, having it driven on trade plates is usually the most cost-effective way to move it, we cover the tax and insurance, and check oil, water and tyres before setting off.

Moving it on a transporter costs more, but it’s the right call for non-runners, very high-value cars, or where you want it covered. We’ll always tell you which makes more sense for your vehicle.

  • Driven: most cost-effective for MOT’d, roadworthy cars
  • Transported: best for non-runners & high-value cars
  • Covered: maximum protection for prestige & classics
  • One fixed price either way, no per-mile surprises

FAQs

Car transport cost questions

How much does it cost to transport a car in the UK?
There is no single fixed rate. The price depends mainly on the distance, whether the car is driven on trade plates or carried on a transporter, whether it needs covered transport, and the timing. Send us your collection and delivery postcodes and the date you need, and we will reply quickly with a competitive, fixed-price quote.
How much does it cost to transport a car 200 miles in the UK?
A 200-mile movement is priced on the route, the vehicle and whether it is driven or transported, rather than a flat per-mile rate, return-leg availability can also reduce the cost. The quickest way to know is to send us the two postcodes for a fixed-price quote.
How much does it cost to transport a car 300 miles in the UK?
Longer movements like 300 miles are still quoted on distance, vehicle and method (driven or transported) rather than a set rate. We give you one fixed price up front with no hidden extras.
Is it cheaper to have a car driven or transported?
For a roadworthy car with a current MOT, having it driven on trade plates is usually the most cost-effective option. Transport on a truck costs more but is the right choice for non-runners, very high-value cars or where you want it covered.
Do you charge a fixed price or per mile?
We quote a single, competitive fixed price for your specific movement, so you know the cost before you book. There are no per-mile surprises on delivery.
